In simple terms, a Home Battery Storage System allows you to store energy for later use, much like a rechargeable battery for your phone or radio but on a much larger scale. This means that you can purchase electricity from the grid at cheaper rates for use later or, if you have a Solar PV System, store the excess energy generated in the day for use in the evening or at night.
In this way, home batteries can save your energy bills and help you to make the most of your Solar PV system, reducing your carbon footprint and increasing the energy efficiency of your home. However, there are a wide variety of models and sizes of home batteries to choose from. Finding the right model for you will depend on the scale of any Solar PV system you may have and how much energy you use during the day and at night. You’ll also have to account for things like seasonal variations - in the winter, you’ll tend to use more energy but there will (sadly) be less sun.
